The gastronomy of Ayacucho is excellent, so you can be sure that you will eat well at any restaurant, enjoying the traditional cuisine that ranges from the anticuchos made with beef hearts to spicy puca and corn in drinks, as a side dish or with a large variety of flavors and colors. Your mouth will water just reading the menu.
Some restaurants worthy of a visit are:
- Las Flores: a restaurant that specializes in guinea pigs raised on their own farm and roasted over a wood fire, attracting dozens of clients every day eager to try this dish which is very popular in the region. Located in a traditional neighborhood of Ayacucho, the restaurant was founded 30 years ago by Gloria Zaga, who still runs the business.
- Vía Vía Café: a restaurant for tourists that offers traditional cuisine at a very good price. You can try everything on the menu because it is all delicious.
- Restaurante la Huamanguina: located on the first floor (not at street level) of a building on one of Ayacucho’s two main commercial streets, it offers a large variety of typical dishes. You must try the fried trout, alpaca meat and cheese sticks (tequeños de queso)!
